5.India Strengthens Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Standards to Address Global Concerns

The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare in India has revised Schedule M of the Drugs and Cosmetics Rules to enhance pharmaceutical manufacturing standards. This move aims to address global concerns over sub-standard medicines exported from India. The revision introduces new categories, emphasizes a pharmaceutical quality system, and mandates quality risk management. Manufacturers must ensure drug quality, comply with licensing requirements, and conduct thorough testing before marketing products.
