UPSC CSE Notification 2024

Recently UPSC released the notification for the Civil Service Examination(CSE) 2024 & Indian  Forest Service (IFoS). So it's time for those students who want to apply for these examinations to submit their application online.  UPSC will fill a total of 1056 vacancies all over India.  Registration for these examinations will begin on 14 February and last till 5 March 2024.

Steps to apply for UPSC CSE 2024

We are here to provide you with a step-by-step procedure for applying for UPSC CSE Exam registration. 


  • First of all, you have to visit Its official website www.upsc.gov.in 

  • Then there you may find an option named “apply online” You have to click on that option to register yourself there. 

  • The login by using OTR

  • After logging in, as a candidate you have to choose the “UPSC CSE/IFoS and Both.” 

  • Lastly, save your online copy of the application form for future use and print it for later use. 



Syllabus and Exam Pattern for UPSC CSE 2024 

The UPSC CSE examination is conducted in three stages which include;


  • Preliminary Stage – General Studies I & General Studies Paper-II (CSAT)

  • Civil Services Preliminary Examination will be Objective Type.

  • The General Studies Paper-II (CSAT) of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination will be a qualifying paper with minimum qualifying marks fixed at 33%.

  • The question papers will be set both in Hindi and English.

  • The preliminary stage is the elimination round for UPSC CSE Mains examination. The merit includes only General Studies Paper 1 marks.

  • Mains Stage for CSE – 9 Theory Papers (Language Papers, Essay, GS I-IV & Optional Paper 1&2).

  • Mains Stage for IFoS - General English Paper I, General Knowledge Paper II, Optional Subject 1 (Paper III & IV), Optional Subject Paper 2 ( Paper V & VI).

  • Personality Test – Interview

  • Economic and Social Development – Sustainable Development, Poverty, Inclusion, Demographics, Social Sector Initiatives, etc.

  • General issues on Environmental Ecology, Biodiversity, and Climate Change – that do not require subject specialization.

UPSC IFoS Interview

UPSC IFoS interview is commonly known as the “UPSC interview and personality test”. This interview consists of 300 marks.

UPSC CSE & IFoS Eligibility 2024

Likewise, for every other government examination, UPSC also has some eligibility criteria that every candidate should follow to appear in the examination. these criteria include:


Age Limit of UPSC CSE & IFoS 2024

Candidates must be no older than 32 and candidates at least be at the age of 21 years old.


Education Qualification of UPSC CSE 2024

Firstly every candidate who is applying for this examination should have a properly recognized graduate degree from any Indian university. Whoever wants to apply for this, must have a bachelor's degree.


Educational Qualification of UPSC IFoS 2024

Educational qualification of UPSC IFoS 2024 includes 


Only graduates in the following subjects are eligible to apply: 

  • Botany

  • Chemistry

  • Geology

  • Mathematics

  • Physics

  • Statistics

  • Zoology, or

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture Forestry or Engineering

Nationality of UPSC CSE and IFoS 2024

To appear in the examination, candidates should be recognized as citizens of India. Candidates must be citizens of India, Nepal, Bhutan, and Tibet, persons of Indian origin (PIO) migrating from specific countries to settle permanently in India, or Tibetan refugees who are arriving before January 1, 1962, to be considered for all other services.


Number of Attempts of UPSC CSE and IFoS 2024

Candidates can take the examination in the following attempts:


  • General category candidates: 6 attempts.

  • OBC candidates: 9 attempts.

  • SC/ST candidates: given the Unlimited attempts till the age limit.

  • Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD): 9 attempts for general and OBC, while unlimited for SC/ST.


Application Fee of UPSC CSE and IFoS 2024

Application fees for candidates include:


  • General/EWS/OBC Candidates (Male) – ₹100

  • SC/ST/PwBD Candidates and Female Candidates (All Categories) – No Fee

  • Candidates can pay the fee online for registration by using the net banking facility of various banks or by using Visa/MasterCard/Rupay Credit/Debit Card.


FAQs about UPSC CSE Notification 2024


1. Has UPSC released the UPSC CSE & IFoS 2024 notification yet?

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) released the Civil Services Examination & IFoS 2024 notification on 14th Feb 2024. This year Forest Services will also be filled up through the CSE Examination.


2. What age limit is required for IAS 2024?

The candidates must have the age limit of 21 years of age and also below 32 years of age, as of 1st August 2024 i.e., the candidate must have been born not earlier than 2nd August 1991 and not later than 1st August 2002.
